M8 in another office is asking about a "Bike to work" racer choices, but I dunno bugger all about them I thought I'd let you guys (try) and guide us..

He likes the look of the Boardman carbon unit, as it's halford voucher scheme (did mention other shops will accept them): http://www.boardmanbikes.com/road/road_team_carbon.html

So any reason not to go for it? What would you look at if you were in his position?
What should he be looking for spec wise for this type of money?

Do you mean a bike to race on? Or 'racer' as in a road bike?

Boardman are probably the best bet either way frankly!

Sorry, yep meant a road bike 😳
i'll take a scope at the whole boardman range, as I assume he's paying a premium for the carbon frame on his first choice. He did also mention Cube, is that a choice at Halfords nowadays?

if it's the halfords voucher scheme then planet x is a non-starter

if you go into halfords they have a book (well they do in the one at manchester fort) with all the stuff they can buy in as standard and I seem to remember there was some pretty tasty stuff, but you'd probably be on RRP for it. If you speak to the bike to work scheme organisers they can get stuff not necessarily on the list but bang for buck the boardman does take some beating

IIRC you can spend them at Condor.... ??
