just bought some light weight pedals that have a max weight limit of 80kg
I'm only 64kg
but I will be racing CX on them
will they be ok when all my weight is on just one pedal? (like just before youu dismount. you can spend quite some time like this over the course of a race)
It's just a guide
Do you know many people who weigh 40kg?
A fair bit of weight will be on your hands.
What pedals?
Ask the manufacturer/importer/dealer if you're genuinely concerned.
The 80kg limit might be per pedal
yep...thinking about it...it will be per pedal!
they are Xpedo
if they fail you weight will be mostly on your cross bar ๐
I suspect you are thinking too much into this and they calculate that based on full weight on one pedal. Would be silly to have a pedal that can only take 40kg.
They pedal should be specified to allow for a rider + acceleration forces from reasonable bumps and landings etc as a reserve factor.
If you're worried, don't start thinking about the forces involved should you inadvertently leave the ground and then land with your feet on the pedals.
I'd be more concerned about their bearings/bushings which will self destroy in no time.
you had bad experience with them Regiegasket?
I'd be more concerned about the name of the pedals...
The weight limit will be for the rider, taking into account that he may have all his weight on one foot, while standing on the edge of the pedal and going over a bump. You weigh less than the weight limit, so that should be fine.
Do you get a free bag of Werther's Originals with them?

Are you going to be holding the bars of the bike?
yeah suppose a lot of weight will be through the bars.
just weighed them - 181g for a pair (digital scales)
What pedals and how heavy are the cleats?
Eat less fatty!!
(i'm pretty sure that some people i see doing CX weigh less than the lycra they are wearing..... ๐

I had some Xpedo MF ti/ti a few years ago. The warranty was good, I had 3 pairs in a year, as they wore so extensively. The bushes used to wear really fast, so they made them harder, meaning the axle wore instead. Top quality!
are you sure those scales are accurate?
hmmmm
time atacs last for ever but weigh a lot and the light versions are expensive
To be fair the MF 8 Ti now appears to have 3 cartridge bearings, would could tempt me back to them. Bushes in pedals are nearly always why they wear so bloody fast!
just hope they are as easy to get into quickly like the time's
the look s tracks look good too!
Can't be worse than the Quartz, worst product I've ever tried. Not sure why I seem to have such bad luck with pedals ๐
First need to remove a rounded bolt from my cleats!!!
where's that drill?

Interesting - I also had some replaced under warranty (though I just got XTR as a replacement, as it was clear it was a design problem and the next pair would go the same way). Still have a pair of the road ones in regular use, but they don't have to cope with the same sort of conditions.
how longs the warranty?
wont be racing until sept
which model did you have replaced? this new 3 bearing model?
Which model did you buy Sefton?
the m8 ti (the best ones)
180g, really?

The older Mountain Force Ti/Ti, I'm going back about 6 years.

215g claimed, seems unlikely they're that much lighter...
just weighed 1 time atac alium 424 on the same scales.
just fitted them...a little different than the times 'clunk' when you clip in...but they felt good
