In particular im interested what folk who ride 29ers think of them, wondering if a trek ss 69er with a 650b at the back might take the edge off (but still have that stiff bb shell and frame)

which takes me to the second part, what do long term trek ss 69er riders think of them? ive ridden a mates a few times and loved it (despite being too big) but found it a bit harsh at the back esp compared to 29er, but its such a fun bike!

Hello

I've no idea about 650b.

I've been riding the 69er ss since it came out and I love it.I was on a 29er before and that rode like a cross bike with fat tires(it is a cross bike now)

I think they went down really well.I had the geared Top Fuel version for a while too for solo and enduro stuff.A lot of people seem to be trying diy routes too.

I wish I rode as much as I used too my main bike now has an engine..

I happen to think they're a great idea. If I can get closer to the speed of 29ers without compromising my low speed handling then great!

For 26" conversions a 650b front wheel wouldn't raise the front up as much as a 29er while still offering all of the benefits

That's why I'm starting to import tyres & rims .. so if you need any 650b related products give me a shout (email in profile) if you want to find out about my selection.

I have found 650b work really well for me. I am more than tall enough for a 29er (and have ridden one for many years)

The rolling Radius is not much less than many 29er tyres but I get a lot more air volume and a little more room for my toes.

I am running them in a 29er frame and forks which is very different to squeezing them into a 26" frame.

I just feel the format has come a little late to the table to take a real hold. I would love to see the day where when you by a bike it comes with wheels to fit the frame rather than tiny people on 29ers and tall people on 26ers. 3 graduated steps isn't too had to engineer into mass production.
