For what use I.e what kind of riding do you do?

They’re all quite conservative. Not a bad thing but I’d look elsewhere for what I want.

It's not for me, it's for someone who wants to dabble.

Bizango, recommending what I own. When I started I found it gave me much more confidence than the cheap XC-style bikes I'd ridden before. Now I'm learning to ride faster it's only getting more fun.

For somebody wanting a dabble i'd buy second hand. Its a buyers market at this time of year so if he/she decides its not for them and they sell in spring/summer the financial loss shouldn't be too bad.

Can't do a link but have a look at the Whytes at Winstanleys.

A Scott Scale 720 Plus? One in the classifieds that could be right up your street? 🙂

That Cube's a good price but Cube hardtail geometry is very old fashioned (short top tubes, very long stems, steep head angle, very long seat tubes with poor standover).

I'd be looking at Whyte (801/5, their 29er series) for something more progressive unless you are planning on XC racing.

If it’s just a dabble I’m thinking about selling my old Bizango on to make room for a hybrid for a spare commute/bike for the Mrs.

Could do with new cables but is otherwise in good nick.

Don’t know what it’d be worth now though.

Edit - it’d be a fair bit less than £500 though even if I left the dropper on.

New Bizango is £650 but BC discount is 10% off and others ways (cash back etc) to get it a bit cheaper. Really decent.

If he is dabling then I’d be tempted to snap up the older model - £500 brand new, so again <£450 with BC discount.
