Looking to fit wider tyres to my 456ti as I find the ride a bit harsher than expected. Will a 2.4 Nobby Nic fit? Is this a good tyre for wet rocky and rooty trails up here in bonny Scotland?

If it's anything like a steel 456, yes it will fit. Room to spare with 2.35" Kendas (bigger than 2.4 NN, IIRC).

managed to squeeze a 2.4 Big Betty into mine with a bit of clearance, but not enough for comfort.

I run them on mine, its a squeeze.
TBH I find my 456Ti a wee bit stiffer than the steel 456 I had before, but tubeless at 30psi or less, carbon bars and a skinny post sorts it out.
2.25's work well also, with a bit more mud room.

2.35 high roller on mine, wouldn't want much bigger!

2.5 bontrager big earls on my Ti456. They fit fine and work well
