[#12352030]

Is it possible to change over an x-caliber 7 2021 to a 2x10 from 1x10? I'd like to add an extra couple of higher gears as I've probably made an error of judgement in what I actually intend to use the bike for against it's intended purpose!

I've noticed the frame seems to be identical to the 2020 version which was a 2x, there is still an e-type mount for a front derailleur on the frame and the rest of the chain set (Deore 4100) appears to have a 2x10 option compatible with the rest of the setup.

I'm clutching at straws here, the bike specs for the bike say maximum 32T chainset but is this just in a 1x setup?

Any help much appreciated.

I've just been on to trek online support and they say it's ok so I will give it a go.

I did exactly this on my Roscoe which is the same frame. Actually selling the bits off if you're looking to buy. Barely been used and a total waste of time on my part as I'm now getting rid of the bike.

Hi Haggis, that's very useful thank you. Good for parts thanks. Why are you still getting rid of the bike did it not have the desired effect?

I bought the frame with the intention of just building something cheap for winter training up and down the canal. Next thing I know I've got a 29er and 27.5+ wheelset for it. Not cheap ones either, a 1x drivetrain which morphed into a 2x drivetrain. It was better kitted out than the Roscoe 8 and I had gone too far. My employer started doing C2W so I bought a Marin Bobcat Trail 4 instead and it does everything I want. Job done.
