I've just put some 130mm forks on my 2nd gen slot dropout (taperlock) inbred.
I've read a few threads about it but am still a little confused...
Is it going to explode into a thousand pieces? ๐
Has anyone actually broken an inbred through using >120mm forks?
measure the top tube diameter, the 2nd gen had three cable stop on the top tube and have a thicker toptube so are stronger.
if it's 28.6mm diameter, it's corrected for 100mm
if it's 31.8mm diameter its corrected for 130mm
so said the man who designed them... though I doubt it explode, it might just handle badly on steep climbs.
I used 120s with no problems, in fact it handled better than with 100.
To be honest I like the way it rides with the longer forks so the geometry isnt too much of a concern, more the strength of the frame and if it can safely take the travel. (or am I getting confused?)
While we're at it, I've got an older scandal 26" - the one when it was actually scandium alloy rather than the current 7046 alloy. Max fork on current frame is 100mm, is it the same for mine?
Thanks in advance
from other posts I've followed on the subject filks (i kinda fancy a scandal to replace my inbred), it would suggest yes they handle best with 100mm forks, but then no doubt some smart arse will be along to say no...

...mrjmt does that not answer your query then?
Thanks z1ppy. Running mine with 100mm and its sweet as, just asked incase I 'found' some longer travel forks - they should work from a handling perspective as the geo is the same as the inbred.....
