While I see a few HT and rigid 29ers floating about I have yet to see many (any) full sussers. Have they just not made it into the mainstream yet or is there something fundamental mitigating against them?

Or the Gary Fisher Superfly:

They're out there, they look even more stupid than the hardtails though!

njee20 I'd agree that the smaller 29er frames look a bit silly but once you get to bikes for taller folk they just begin to look more balanced and less gate like.

29er Anthem... now there's a thought!

the Niners look very nice but are a tad expensive, though not as bad as the SC!

I did have one of these (XL Niner Jet) until the Frame was recalled, a great bike until that point. I'm waiting for Niner to design, build and deliver the replacement- at some point in the Spring.........ish

I have a Salsa Big Mama which is a full suss 29er. Very nice it is too.

Using my hardtail 29er for the winter months now though as there is less to get ruined by the mud.

The choice for full suss 29ers is far lower than for hardtail 29ers although more are coming onto the market now. Gary Fisher have a decent range, as do Kona and Niner. Other full sussers seem to be from bit more niche companies such as Lenz, Salsa, Ventana. More big players are dipping a toe into the market though with the likes of Spesh, Turner and Santa Cruz.

I email Specialized about their 29ers and they told me they're not importing them into the UK as there's no demand. ๐Ÿ™„

We are waaay behind the US on this aren't we? Why is that? Have, say, Spesh really tried pushing the concept here? I haven't really noticed if they have, niche guys have done the leg-work over here so far as far as I'm aware.

I've ridden a few, a Ventana El Patron in addition to some of those mentioned above. Due to the bigger wheels necessitating longer (effective) chainstays it is difficult to create a bike which still handles well in sizes for riders anything less than 6 foot.

Intense have been doing some fun things

Sponging machine - you can get them on German websites though.

I was thinking of a race type machine so no massive travel beasts.

Wow the head angle on that Turner looks steep!!!!!

the Foes looks cool.

Yeah but I had intended on cycle-scheming a new 29er this year, so German sites are no good. Scott also do a really nice looking 29er race hardtail, but not in the Uk.

I had intended on buying a Giant 29er, but they're not importing the XL size. I find this a little bewildering, as I'm not really sure there's a market for 15" 29ers, but I'm sure there must be demand for a 21" frame, surely?

Yep, totally agree with that.

The head angle on the Sultan may look steep but in no way does it feel steep or twitchy when you ride it.
