Planning on taping up the new wheels tonight and just realised I only have 21mm tape, this worked perfectly on my Crest rims but the new wheels are 23mm internal, will it fail and kill any small creatures?
Curiously enough have just recently put 21 mm tape on a 23 mm WTB rim. As you might expect it goes right to the edge of the rim and is prone to creasing when fitting tyres. Would fit something narrower next time
Is it not the narrowness that is making it crease?
I was under the impression I should be wide so the tyre bead doesn't damage it and expose gaps?
I found tape a few mm too narrow would always crease when taking a tyre off, and I'd have to retape.
Gorilla tape won't crease (ime)
3M crossweave, 19mm wide, on ebay.
Ill give it a shot, barely take them off once on anyway.
