This is rubbish. Went out for a ride this morning. All planned to be back in time for the dh on the BBC. And nothing... what a load of shite.
Going to fix some gutters instead and read about it on pinkbike later.
The 2.5 minute "highlight" reel the UCI put up on Youtube last night got an immediate panning and was taken down within a couple of hours.
Gutted it wasn't on the BBC and couldn't find a feed anywhere.
DH broadcasting is a sh*tshow right now. **** the UCI

Well no, not really. It was full coverage of both Juniors and Elites, the same as each and every race. You just have to pay for it. The coverage is clear, crisp and drone footage is great. Some are not massive fans of Ric, but i don't mind him too much.
But the simple answer is... Why should it be free to air ? No other sports (generally these days) are. From cricket to Grand Tours, to Rugby and football, F1, MotoGP, there's a cost.. Why should DH be different ?
I'd possibly get the argument that World Champs maybe should be free... but i'd even debate that a bit.
what an incredible winning race from Goldstone. He really is on a different level at the moment.
Tahnee’s brilliant save from her near OTB incident was great
@Speeder That would've been the BBC's decision not to televise the race, not the UCI's.
Why don't you just watch the full race free of charge on the UCI YouTube channel with the aid of a vpn set to any of the countries that doesn't have an official broadcaster for the world champs ?
This under 3 min piece of crap is all I could find on YT. (I'm glad I didn't have to watch the whole thing with that commentary!)
by the way he talks in his course previews, he is so within his comfort zone going those speeds it is insane. No wonder he won
Thanks for the spoiler @suspendedanimation. 🙄 I came on here to find out how I could watch it.

What do you expect from the world champs thread?
The race was over 24 hours ago.
Apologies for the spoiler but a thread on a race is always going to be discussing the wining runs and highlights?
I haven't watched it yet but saw this morning that there's a Sleeper Shredit gone up on YouTube. Expect it's awesome as always. Will be watching later.

It's me that should apologise. Frustrations due to being away for the weekend and looking forward to watching it on the BBC when i.got home.. lo and behold they didn't show it and I didn't know where to see it.
The bmx world champs were on iplayer and no doubt the xc and road cycling worlds will be on it so why not the dh?
Apologies again

cool from me no apologies needed, it didn’t help there’s two threads basically the same now, and I thought there was one so posts are going on both.
even knowing the result it’s worth watching what you can wherever 👍
Tiz doesn't work for me on the laptop weirdly, get the audio just fine but no video? Works on the phone but the screens too small for me to bother with that.
So on to XC…
Hatherley and Pieterse both on the start lists as tradition dictates they must try to defend the jersey. 2 weeks before road worlds, which is on a hill climber’s course that should suit them both (and for hatherley likely the only African world champs of his career) do they really want to be there?
MVDP has put a bit more effort into mtb as he’s been targeting this event. Never rule out the best engine in cycling, but this was a technical course last year that could be his literal downfall, especially if wet. Have we got clarity on the start gridding rules after the farce in Scotland?
Easy money on Risvets after a dominant performance in les gets. Evie seems to find an extra few watts for worlds and is also good technically .
Not sure where VdP was, he was showing on both the XCC and SCO start lists, but didn't make the start. Or indeed where Charlie Aldgridge was for the race either as i thought he'd be a threat.
Gutted for Evie, she was looking good for at least P3.

I was very very wrong on this one - top ride from AH, despite having focused mainly on the road this year shows he can still come back and ride well on the mtb. I think he is only the 4th man to win it more than once, which puts him in high company.

nailed this one though. not quite as done and sealed as Les Gets but don't think you would have bet against her at any point after the first minute of the race. She didn't do too well in south america but has had an excellent summer. Is the WC overall still in reach for her to complete her trophy cabinet?

Charlie was ill so skipped the XCC and probably still affected for the XCO (21st).
Masterclasses by Jenny Rissveds / Alan Hatherley and a good scrap for the remaining places in the men's.
