Making my biannual Peak pilgrimage this weekend.
I do love Cutgate, but I'm aware of it's nature and the ongoing work that the local groups are doing for the trails in the Peak District. Plus I don't want to ride a sloppy mess.
So how is it at the moment?
Have checked KoftheP twitter but no reports on it from this weekend just gone - and get the impression that KoftheP is for posting reports/photos, not asking questions.
I haven't been over there but I was at Jacobs ladder last weekend and it was all mostly dry and friends on strava report the whole area to be dry so I reckon you'd be good to go. large bogs dependent, but it's all fun :))
Report back after you've been. ta
Rain forecast for the next few days though, can quickly return to slop.
Sorry to be a naysayer!
Most trails are just drying well or have only just dried. My best guess would be that cut gate still wouldn't be quite ready.
Most of it would ride well but the boggy bit will currently cover a very large area with no way through or around that doesn't exacerbate the problem.
Is the work on improving the boggy area still to go ahead ? There was talk about it last year but have heard nothing since.
hi
two things
1) absolutely ask on KoftheP! It works both ways
2) Yes Cut Gate is in the middle of fundraising. We need as much help as we can get!

@KoftheP Has anyone tried Cutgate after the week of summer we just had? https://twitter.com/BlackSteel79/status/988848472311943168
its my local ride i live at the bottom of it near langsett
yesterday it rained
today its raining
tomorrow they reckon, yup more rain
last thursday we went up there and even after it blazing sun for 2 days north america was sodden
greno and wharncliffe are also a shitfest in places and less fun than they should be
possibly maybe i just dont like mud anymore
Pook - yep thats me.
Think I'll give this a miss this trip then. A bit of drizzle keeps the hordes of casual walkers away from Jacobs ladder, so not all bad.
Thought I'd bump this. Thinking about riding CG on Bank Holiday Monday. Will have been 3-4 days of decent weather, but obviously quite a lot of rain in the last week or so. Any thoughts on whether it will be worth it or is it best avoided (don't want to contribute to making it worse than it is)

Apr 27, 2018Major Water drainage issue, large mud holes-Some parts very boggy, rest of it rides really well and great trail
As good as anywhere to post trail updates
Funkrodent, unless your planning a dawn or dusk raid to CG I'd avoid on Bank holiday weekend, it will be crawling wiht bibberly rambler types. You won't get the best ride out of it, as you'll be stop starting all the time. Also parking and cafe stops will be heaving all weekend.
Cheers guys, much appreciated. So it looks like start v. early and prepare to get seriously muddy, or focus attention elsewhere. Think I'll go for the latter!
I went up on tues eve. Still wet in the usual places, but generally not to bad really.
