Been offered one of these carbon lovely's and I have always really liked the look of them. It'll mean selling my other two bikes to justify the expense! (2010 Yeti 575 & 06 Scott Genius Ltd carbon) but I was interested if anyone out there has got one and what they think to it?
It's a 50cm which I believe is a large(?) - has anyone had any sizing issues, I'm 5'11 and both my other bikes are large and fit fine (although the Yeti is possibly a bit stretched).
Thanks
FJ
I'm 6ft and ride the medium (spicy) so might be worth checking it fits first
OK, I don't have experience of the 714 (bear with me), but was thinking of buying one myself and decided against going secondhand because I like everything about my alu-framed Zesty apart from the weight (and the stupid BB of course).
I'm not a massive carbon-sceptic (I've got a carbon HT) but I wouldn't want to have a carbon framed MTB without a warranty. Especially since I know somebody who snapped the carbon rear of their 514.
But if you're getting a warranty perhaps it wouldn't be such a worry for you.
I'm 5ft 9in on a medium, it's just about perfect size wise.
But why would you sell 2 good bikes, to buy 1 bike - are your current ones' crap?
I don't really need two bikes - b r, and no they're not crap. I bought the Scott (frame) as a winter bike. The Yeti's done next to no mileage since I bought the frame new & built it up last year, in fact it's got almost a complete XT groupset throughout which hasn't been ridden yet (the year old XT stuff went on the Scott when I built it up in September last year).
I just really like the Zesty.
I've got one, had it about 6 months now and love it.
Size wise, I'm 5ft 10 and ride a medium which is perfect. They're a bit longer than other medium bikes which is great for me as normally on other bikes mediums feel slightly too small and a large too big but the Zesty is spot on. I would say you need a large but so much of sizing is personal taste.
Its a quality ride, plush suspension, lightweight and stiff frame and living in the lakes it takes a battering. The finish on the frame is good too, it oozes quality with lots of nice touches.
Let me know if you want any more info.
6ft, ridden a friends 714 medium (a thing of joy), it feels too small though.
I would get the Zesty 714 and make sweet love to it, now and then I would take it out on a ride.
Stunning looking bike......., and I would get rid of 10 Scotts and Yetis for one of them.

Thanks for the advice guys.
Two weeks later and here she is!!!............ 😀
2010 model purchased new from Freeflow bikes in Glasgow (great service) and for only £2600 against the original 2010 and current 2011 price of £3800, so well happy! In the end I only had to sell the Yeti to fund it so keeping the carbon Scott as a winter bike.
Not had a chance to ride it yet & only changed one thing so far, a set of Easton Carbon bars although I'm thinking of changing the Gobi saddle for something a little less white! - but we'll see.

Very nice bike, very nice deal.
Welcome to the Zesty club (which I'm just about to leave).
🙂
Don't wanna buy a Scott do you?? 😆
I have the Zesty 514 10 in a 54 and I'm 6'4, so the 50 should be spot on for you, even on all day rides. I tried to get the 714 but they'd sold out straight away, plenty of money around in the bike world. Damn bloody awesome bikes. Stick with the Gobi, very comfortable seat.
chakaping - why are you leaving the lappy club?
