[Closed] 11 speed XT cranksets and chainline

I have an Evil Following, which says 49mm chainline.

I would like (and need to get ASAP as have nicked part of wifes bike) 11 speed XT. This is becoming available........but not the single ring chainsets in 175mm length. So I thought I could get the 2 ring chainset (is available in 175mm length) and swap to one ring at a later date.

the chainline on the 1 ring cranks is 50.4mm
the chainline on the 2 ring cranks is 48.8mm

So the 2 ring cranks appear to match the frame better. Does the chainline depend on the cranks or the ring fitted (I assume cranks)? Will thisplan work or is it better to get a dedicated 1 ring XT crank?

The 2 x chainline is for a non-existant chainring, its halfway between the rings, so you cant ever run it. I would go for something like a RaceFace/Hope/SRAM crank instead.

Get one or the other and use the BB spacer to vary it?
Get the Sram/RF Crank with a removable spider to go 3x/2x/1x really easily?

AS I posted this I saw the news story for the one up XT chainrings: http://singletrackworld.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/oneup-components-offers-narrowwide-for-shimanos-newest-cranks/

This appears to answer all my questions. The one up chainring (fitted with spacers I assume) has a 49mm chainline. So its the rings that change the chainline.

I already have a hope 24mm diameter BB so dont want to go SRAM as I'd need to buy a new BB.
