If you had £100 for new wheels and £100 for new forks for an XC (alu) hardtail - what would you buy? 100mm forks btw

Secondhand, stick your budget in a WTD advert and see what's offered.

secondhand. I wouldn't even try to get forks secondhand for that mind you - £150 is what I have paid for decent secondhand forks

recon dual air is what i would like - budget for complete bike is £350 - spent £150 so far and have a set of wheels that would make £40!

In fact I could sell you a pair of black disc wheels, formula hubs, alex DP17 rims, QR, 32h for £60 posted.

Six months light use, great condition.

Leaves you £140 for your fork - which should get you a decent s/h Reba.

Email in profile.

With a bit more (£250) and if it had to be new, I'd get over to Merlin and get a set of Tora at £129 and a set of 717 on Deore hubs for £119.

...better off getting secondhand though imo

for that budget id buy some pace carbons (some over other side at min) and spend the rest on used wheels

I got a pair of XT hubs on mavic 717's with centre lock rotors and a cassette for £65 posted off here a while ago, so going by that you should be able to get some hope xc hubs for £100.

As for forks, older marzocchis? z1/z2 or mx's?

For that money I'd go down bookies and place a bet on manchester united humiliating bolton wanderers
