[Closed] 1 X 9 for a 10 year old..?

I was thinking of running my eldest with a 1x9 set up on his bike.

The riding round here (Norfolk) is fairly flat and I'm not sure that a 10 year old will ever turn a 40 odd tooth chainring... so I'm thinking of setting him up with a 1x9 set up, might drop the big & small rings and just keep the middle.

Any thoughts?

cheers

I'd be tempted to leave the granny just to save his knees

Should be fine, Norfolk is flat as. Some bikes are 1x5/6/7 anyway.

Keep the granny, until he's either old enough to take it off, or like my elder two - breaks his mechs and runs SS (for street and jumps).
