Just came to say someone is off to the puffer.
Prevailing opinion seems to be that spikes arent really necessary after a few laps and a path has been cut.
There is a great article on the alpkit site, written by puffer winner and cycling legend mike hall highly reccomend. The biggest takeaway i got from it is how to prepare brake pads so you dont chew through a set a lap.

Thanks, had come across the Alpkit one but not Mike Hall’s. Off for a recce next weekend and looks like +7c.
