Surprisingly light & stiff old Btwinn in good working order.
It says “M” but it’s Small, I reckon it’s about 51-52cm frame as it’s slightly on the large side for my wife who’s 5″5′ & fits a 49cm frame well (though she’s stubbornly managed very well on it for years, but did admit that changing the stem made it far more comfortable)
It’s been a loyal & genuinely capable bike for about 8 years from new (including a mini tour of the Isle of Skye a couple of years back!). Rather than sell, we’d like to offer it to someone in exchange for a home made cake.
The homemade cake bit is:
1. To try ensure it ideally goes to someone who will appreciate it, rather than someone who already has 5 carbon bikes & will just use it as a pub bike once a year.
2. To try and pay forward all the help & support I’ve had from STW over the years (I was a member for years under another name)
3. Because I love cake.
Sound logic, right?
(But I all seriousness if you’d like the bike but don’t have time/money/means to make a cake, just let me know & you can have it for free)
It’s pretty much as original, bar the stem which I switched out for a shorter old Genesis one with more rise, as it was too long for my wife. (If you’d prefer it in it’s original more aggressive longer, lower guise though, I may still have it in the garage & will happily swap it back for you if I do)
I also changed the brake pads which apparently made descents far less terrifying, one of the grub screw mechanisms had seized though, so I’m not sure how possible replacing them again would be without some more bodging…
The rear gears could also do with indexing as a couple are slipping a bit, but I think they’ll tune up fine. (I’m terrible at indexing gears so haven’t attempted this myself)
Other than that, the bike is in good working order. And I can try and find a pair of crank brothers pedals, if desired.
There are some pretty deep scrapes on the right leg of the fork & some chain damage to the chainstay (as shown in the pics) but other than that is in pretty good condition. And since she moved in with me, it’s been well looked after.
Think that’s it, the frame, fork & wheels are all surprisingly light & stiff, so it’s not a bad bike by any means… And like I say, it’s taken me ~6 years of knowing my wife to persuade her to upgrade so it’s been well loved!
Think that sums it up by any questions, please just ask below.
