Additional Comments

After the winter, I’ve got a new drivetrain, and have renewed the internals and bearings to the hubs. Fork and shock service. I thought about electronic drivetrain then thought better of it, keep it simple. I might change the handlebar for one with more rise.

  1. Love that, almost identical to my old one! For reference, thats gonna be sub 30lb / 13kg easily. I know some people dont care, but I always like to know.
Said it loads of times but the Float X makes a huge difference on these over the smaller XC shocks, due to the way the bottom out is controlled.

  2. Do people still weigh bikes?
Anyone any idea what the storage is under the top tube? Did the Stage Evo come with bosses there?

Yeah and then wonder how the hell my titanium Stanton with carbon rear, full XTR and carbon wheels ends up at 15kg when people are building Oranges at 13kg 😭😂

    Nice bike though Andrew 👍

  3. Nice bike, had my stage evo for about 10 rides now and I’m blown away how fun and agile it is around Calderdale etc

Can you tell us about your mount & stuff under the top tube? I had given up on the idea of getting a bottle on the bike but you’ve reignited my intrgue now, I’d hoped to get a zip-tie fidlock mount and then find a bottle that may find, I’m on a medium though…

  4. Nice. Ideal bike for a lot of use cases I imagine. I took a different route for my short-travel bike but have been curious about these for a while too.
And yeah, I weigh bikes! Pure curiosity – I’m not chasing weight saving.
Aaaaaannnnd, mounting bottle/tools without bosses or wraparound attachments. I’ve used 3M VHB 5952 tape to attach a Fidlock universal base to a frame without bosses. Seen some rowdy use with a full 450ml bottle and no issues. I contoured the underside of the mount to better match the curve of the tube. I know of another owner who’s mounted it on the underside of the top tube and it seems to hold fine there too.

  5. Hi All
The mount under the top tube is in the link below, you have to do a little bit of fettling to make it fit. I currently use it to strap an inner tube, tyre lever and pump. Keep looking at mini battery pumps that can fit in your pocket and a tubolito inner tube. I fancy getting a platypus filtration system which should then fit in the freed up space, then there will be no need to use my camelback. Forgot to mention in the bar ends I have the Muc-Off Stealth Tubeless Puncture Plugs system.
