If you’ve not ridden with proper winter boots in the cold and wet, then you don’t know the joy that warm feet while riding can bring. Despite being known for its components, Shimano is also the biggest manufacturer of cycling shoes in the world and knows a thing or two about making a decent shoe. This latest off road winter boot distills about 20 years of progressively finer boot-making.
The Shimano MW7 is fully waterproof (apart from that hole in the top of course) and GoreTex lined for good breathability. The sole features a Michelin-developed grippy rubber for grip on wet rocks and chunky tread for climbing to the top of mountains. In addition to the waterproof lining, there’s a fleecy inner liner for comfort and warmth, while your foot is secured by a BOA dial. Finally, to stop all the water running down your legs and into your shoes, there’s a wraparound neoprene cuff that should keep major splashes at bay. There are reflective ‘hits’ all over the outer shoe too to keep you seen when suddenly it’s dark at 3pm…

@oldfart – agreed! Why bike shoe manufacturers can’t put a flat sole on their winter boot offerings is beyond me. 510 have a boot but it looks like it isn’t particularly water resistant.
@redsnail the 510 boot is US waterproof so it totally fended off the annual puddle they rode around that time…
