Patrol Mountain launches updated C09 carbon hardtail range for 2021 with new geometry, specs and great pricing.

For a brand that’s generally pretty quiet internationally, Patrol Mountain has been making a lot of noise these past few weeks. It all kicked off with the announcement of an EP8 powered eBike, followed by the news of the Indonesian brand’s new carbon bikes aimed at kids. The slew of new launches resumes today with the release of the Patrol C091, C092 and C093 bikes.

These new hardtails each share the same Patrol 09 carbon fibre frame, a newly developed frameset which Patrol says has more of an enduro flavour to it than their previous hardtails.

On the geometry front, the 09 frameset has a 67-degree head tube angle, and a generous reach of 455mm on a medium, while large bikes size up to 475mm. Each size from S to XL have chainstays of 430mm and run on 29in wheels.

Patrol is aiming the bike at riders who want to explore, rack up the miles, and get rowdy from time to time so, as well as long, slack(ish) frame, each bike is fitted with a 130mm travel fork and dropper post with at least 150mm of travel, 170mm on L and XL bikes.

If we delve into the frame we find nice features like 2 places to fit a water bottle, a 148×12 rear axle, internal cable routing including a very neat headset design that allows cables and hoses to pass through the steerer, and even a threaded BB.

Another nice touch is a hidden spare mech hanger that’s located in a small compartment on the downtube.

Patrol has released 3 builds of the new hardtail with prices starting at just $1699 and rising to $2199. Patrol hasn’t provided UK pricing yet as they are currently seeking a distributor.

Is “2 places to fit a water bottle” two options of places to fit a water bottle, or “2 water bottle mounting locations, both of which can be used simultaneously, with a 750ml bottle in each”

Is the volume of said bottles or mount locations dependant on frame size?

If it’s got 2 bottle mount points, I want to be able to use both! Unlike some of my current bikes….

I’ve almost a whole bikes worth of bits hanging about in the garage. They don’t do / plan a ‘frame only’ option do they?
