Allen Millyard, the man behind the Millyard Racing 001 downhill bike, has just released a video talking about this revolutionary machine and we’re geeking out!
The Millyard Racing 001 Downhill Bike was one of the most revolutionary downhill bikes of its time, actually, it’s still extremely unique and innovative 15 years after the first time it hit the dirt!
This video, released just a few hours ago, sees Allen talk us through the Millyard Racing 001 race bike with its internal drivetrain, oil bath transmission and Ducati inspired ladder frame chassis.
We can’t wait to watch the follow-up video episodes on the 002 race bike, with single-sided rear triangle, and learn more about that mysterious Millyard racing shock.
But perhaps the most exciting thing is where the Millyard family is going with this? Is there a new downhill bike on the horizon? Stay tuned.

That just looks so cool. But I’m really intrigued about the gearbox. Are you going to talk more about that in a layer video? It sounds like it’s still ahead of the times.
Thanks, very inspirational.
I like stuff like this. So many cool ideas that you hope will be picked by someone.
SIBrilliant, thanks singletrack. Is Adam related to Alan, he of motorcycle fame.
I’m guessing Alfine or Nexus hub in the swingarm?
Lives across the road from me and makes some amazing bikes , mostly with engines, but saw this last night and didnt realise he had made a downhill bike too.
Awesome! Love that rear end system would happily have that on my own bike.
He has built some bonkers motorcycles.
