US based Lezyne may still be a relative newcomer to the GPS computer market, but in just twelve months they’ve already made quite the splash. For the most part, Garmin has dominated the scene unchallenged for the past few years. Last year however, Lezyne dropped three new GPS trip computers and their own free cycling app called Ally.
We reviewed Lezyne’s top-of-the-range Super GPS computer in Issue #104 of Singletrack Magazine, which you can now read in full on our website here. We also put together a small video showing off some of the functionality of the Super GPS computer if you want to get a bit of an insight into the size, shape and tactility of Lezyne’s GPS computers.
In the GPS game through, technology moves fast. And so to help celebrate Lezyne’s 10-year anniversary, the gang has completely overhauled their GPS range to introduce new technologies and features, while adding a few extra models too. We’ve got some info about the new computers and accessories, so read on to see what’s changed.
Across the board, each Lezyne GPS computer has been pumped up with new features. To help distinguish the new computers from the old ones, Lezyne have simply branded the new models as ‘Enhanced‘, which is pretty much what they are. The Super GPS remains, but the Power GPS is gone. In its place is the new Micro GPS, which is basically a smaller version of the Super GPS. The tiny Mini GPS also remains, and a cheaper Macro GPS has been added to the lineup.
Other updates aside, the biggest wholesale change for the entire Lezyne GPS range is new turn-by-turn navigation. A functionality that was missing in Lezyne’s first GPS range, the navigation function means your GPS computer will now direct you where to go if you load in a predetermined course. Brilliant for riders with a terrible sense of direction, or for those wanting to pre-ride a racecourse.
There’s a lot of other cool tech going on, so let’s have a look through the specs to see what’s what in the 2017 Lezyne GPS range.
The Enhanced Super GPS is the top-dog of the Lezyne range, and it takes the existing Super GPS computer and pumps it with a few more tricks. Firstly, it’s more powerful in its location-determining abilities. In addition to GPS/Glonass satellite tracking, Lezyne have added a barometer to more accurately measure your elevation gain/loss. There’s also an accelerometer to help the GPS determine when you start and stop moving, which increases the accuracy when you’re running it on the auto start/stop mode.

This is a completely new model for the Lezyne GPS range. It’s the Micro C GPS, and it comes into the Lezyne lineup as a highly powerful computer that’s also impressive small. In essence, it has the same functionality as the Super GPS, just in a smaller body. The Micro GPS comes in two versions, a regular one (below) and this cool colour screen version (above).
- Same functionality as the Super GPS, in a more compact body with a colour screen
- Tracking: GPS/Glonass satellites, barometer & accelerometer
- Wireless connectivity: ANT+ and Bluetooth® Smart

- Sync rides via Bluetooth Smart to the Lezyne Ally phone app

Same as the Micro C, but with less colour. The Lezyne Micro GPS is a highly powerful computer like the Super GPS, just in a more compact body. That means it features the same tracking technology and it’s also ANT+ and Bluetooth compatible. You can pair it with various devices like heart rate monitors, cadence sensors and such, and by pairing it with your smartphone, you can instantly upload your data at the end of the ride, then sync it with Strava. Why do it that way and not just use Strava on your phone? Battery drainage and location accuracy, that’s why.

The Macro GPS effectively replaces the Lezyne Power GPS computer. It comes in under 100 quid, and simplifies some of the functions. It’ll still give you your speed, riding distance, and elevation, and it’ll still connect with your smartphone via Bluetooth. It doesn’t have ANT+ connectivity however, so it won’t pair with devices that only speak via ANT+. That’s going to be less of an issue moving forward though, as most cycling accessories (speed and cadence sensors, heart rate monitors etc) are predominantly offering Bluetooth wireless connectivity.

As the smallest GPS computer in the Lezyne range, the Mini GPS remains but comes equipped with a little more meat for 2017. Like the rest of the new Lezyne range, the Mini GPS will provide you turn-by-turn navigation, so you can load up a predetermined route and the GPS will tell you were to go. Maybe you went for an epic mountain bike ride a few weeks ago, but you’re not sure of the exact route? Just load that ride into your Mini GPS, and it’ll tell you where to go. Neat!

I n addition to the new GPS computers, Lezyne are also introducing their first line of cycling computer accessories, including a speed/cadence sensor and a heart rate monitor.
We’ll hopefully have some of the new Lezyne GPS computers in the office to test soon, though stay tuned for our Eurobike coverage next week, where we should have some hands-on info on the new units.
In the meantime, hit up Upgrade Bikes for more information about the Lezyne range and to find your closest dealer.

Navigation function makes me less nervous about my Garmin 200 biting the dust. Nice one.
