Aggregate 100: Drop Bars Or Flat Bars?

by 0

So Gravel racing is pretty hot right now. But so is Enduro racing. So what if you were to combine the two together? You know, into the same event?? Well when those two cycling genres collide, you end up with an all-new niche called Gravel-Enduro!

Following in the footsteps of the hugely popular gravel races in the US, the Aggregate 100 is a brand new event for the UK that will be held this weekend (the 6th and 7th of August) on the North Moors in Cropton. Bringing gravel bikes, cyclocross bikes and mountain bikes into the one race is not something that happens very often, but that’s exactly what the Aggregate 100 is all about. Have a look at the official press release to see what it’s all about!

Introducing the U.K’s first gravel enduro!

Back in 2013 when we introduced the Kinesis ATR Tripster, we couldn’t have predicted the gnarmac craze that has been sweeping the country. Now in 2016 we present the race which the Kinesis ATR Tripster inspired – AGGREGATE100: a mix between American gravel racing and MTB Enduro.

The inaugural race is being held at The New Inn, Cropton, home of The Great Yorkshire Brewery on the North York Moors on the weekend of the 6th and 7th August 2016. Saturday is a chance to meet and eye up your fellow competitors with The Dog Show. But don’t worry, it doesn’t involve any dogs at all…

The bar is open in the camping field with beers inspired by the Kinesis UK range of bikes and entertainment and street food, just don’t party too hard before Sunday’s race. Sunday is all about the race. AGGREGATE100 is open to solo riders or pairs. The scoring is taken from the aggregate time across all four race sections.

Cross bike, gravel grinder, or MTB? The choice is yours at the Aggregate 100, with numerous stages designed to test the versatility of your chosen steed. Photo: Jo Allen.

Each segment is different with various aggregate surfaces (obviously, see what we did there) including the ancient route Rudland Rigg high up on the moor before winding down the cinder track of the old railway then into Cropton Two feed stations on route, but expect more than just Clifbar, we’ll have the Sheriff on hand. And no, you don’t have to ride a Kinesis, you don’t even need a gravel bike but we hear all the cool…
