Video: Rollerblades on North Shore

Is calling inline skates rollerblades like calling a fixed gear bike a fixie? Probably. Interesting new skates on show in this video of Vancouver North Shore trails though; they specify in the description that they run on pneumatic tyres:

(Video not showing? Here’s a link)

The above comes complete with a helmet disclaimer from the skate manufacturer, and we do hope the skater consulted a graph of wheel size, weight, rollover angles and tread pattern before hitting the trails. The wheels don’t look like they’d be amazing at handling braking bumps.

Below are some people on the same skates riding BMX tracks near London. They’re obviously about to take over despite the fact that these are local trails, for local people!

(Nor this one? Oh alright, another link, just for you)

Rollerblading Northshore

David started mountain biking in the 90’s, by which he means “Ineptly jumping a Saracen Kili Racer off anything available in a nearby industrial estate”. After growing up and living in some extremely flat places, David moved to Yorkshire specifically for the mountain biking. This felt like a horrible mistake at first, because the hills are so steep, but you get used to them pretty quickly. Previously, David trifled with road and BMX, but mountain bikes always won. He’s most at peace battering down a rough trail, quietly fixing everything that does to a bike, or trying to figure out if that one click of compression damping has made things marginally better or worse. The inept jumping continues to this day.
