Shocktoberfest is on Friday October the 30th, featuring fancy dress, Peaty, Steel City Media and of course, beer. Saturday sees the Spooky Ride near Wharncliffe, of which they say:

“More prizes will be given out for the best and spookiest fancy dress ….and we don’t just mean lycra. Follow along as ‘Sheffield Steel’ reveals the local training ground that brought him so many years of success. But watch out… it is Halloween after all… who knows what lurks in Wharncliffe woods around witching hour? The ride will begin at Farmer Jacks, Hallfield head farm (S35 7DS) at 11am. If you’re driving up it will be 2 quid to leave your car in his field. We’ll be out for a couple of hours around Wharncliffe and Grenoside woods so bring a bike you can pedal and come dressed for the weather.”

Sunday is for the return of Peaty’s Bike Bonanza itself, at Ponds Forge with stalls and shops for your bargain demon. Find out more at www.peatysbikebonanza.co.uk.

David started mountain biking in the 90’s, by which he means “Ineptly jumping a Saracen Kili Racer off anything available in a nearby industrial estate”. After growing up and living in some extremely flat places, David moved to Yorkshire specifically for the mountain biking. This felt like a horrible mistake at first, because the hills are so steep, but you get used to them pretty quickly. Previously, David trifled with road and BMX, but mountain bikes always won. He’s most at peace battering down a rough trail, quietly fixing everything that does to a bike, or trying to figure out if that one click of compression damping has made things marginally better or worse. The inept jumping continues to this day.
