This week, we introduce: On Yer Bike Cycles

We are off to a hotbed of riding, with two sites located just south of Gisburn Forest in the heart of East Lancashire. On Yer Bike Cycles plies its trade out of Burnley and Blackburn centres. Mike Grimshaw tells us more …

With our branches in Burnley and Blackburn as well as our online store, we have been an established business for over 20 years; being located in the heart of this riding hotbed is a real bonus. We strive to provide the best service possible in the cycling trade. We like to refer to it as ‘knowledgeable service with a smile!’

What lines do you stock, Mike?

If you’re looking to buy a new bike we have all disciplines from the likes of Scott, Trek, Giant, Cube, Whyte, Wilier and Haibike. If you’re looking to spruce up or repair your current bike, all our workshop mechanics are Cytech qualified.

Being a Scott ‘Reference Centre’, means there is plenty of this on show.

What’s your main market?

Like many of your readers we are all ‘cyclists’ at heart and our shop staff ride a mix of terrains, right from the shop door. We are particularly proud of having a dedicated Women’s Showroom, with a wide variety of bikes, parts and accessories to suit female riders needs and our staff being approachable and friendly, offer the type of shopping environment we hope encourages riders from all walks of life… kids included.

What is your USP?

We are very much a Hope Tech Shop and a Scott Bikes Reference and Test Centre which means we have stock, test bikes and can access stock very quickly to get you out on the trails. We host a state-of-the-art bike fitting system, to make sure what you need is sized properly.

When spending your hard earned, professional bike fitting comes into its own.

To make your visit as relaxing as possible, we have also invested in a coffee bar, serving freshly barista-made coffee. Staff are pretty happy with that move too!

Real coffee sits side by side, with Torq’s energy drinks. Double hit!

Supporters of the electric revolution?

Yes we’re fans here. I think this shows the sheer range on offer available to riders, whatever the demands of the trail. There seems to be a great deal of misconception about electronic bikes and the role of pedal assist, which we can talk customers through. At our Burnley store, we are home to one of the largest CycleLife Electric Bike centres in the North-West, boasting top of the range Bosch and Yamaha-powered electric Haibikes.

What’s happening locally?

Well, for starters our Spring Demo Day is coming up very soon. It’s on Sunday 29 March, between 10.00am – 4.00pm, at Gisburn Forest, so please talk to us about booking ahead for what promises to be a cracking test day for all out in the saddle. Otherwise if you want to ride locally, we have the knowledge to point you in the right direction.
