Enduro World Series Finale Diary Day One

by 0

We arrived late last night into Finale Ligure, Italy to catch the final round of the Enduro World Series. If Finale hasn’t registered with you yet as a ride destination you really need to re-evaluate your bucket list and aim to get here. There’s some amazing riding, on the Mediterranean coast with good food for when you’re finished. This weekend 500 racers have descended on the town for this round of racing and conditions couldn’t be better.

There's probably worse places to hold a race.

There’s a solid UK contingent here led by 2013 women’s world enduro champion Tracey Moseley, who’s leading in 2014 and looking to defend her title from Anne Caroline Chausson and Cecile Ravanel.

At the end of day one’s racing she’s 14.31 seconds down on Anne Caro.

In the men’s race, as we type this, Fabien Barel is currently leading the race in his return to racing after breaking his back during round one in the Chilean Andes back in April.

After the first two stages racers get the chance to drop back into the pits before heading out for the rest of the day’s racing. A relaxed Cedric Gracia was was claiming to still be feeling the effects of his party lifestyle, but was in a fairly speedy 30th place after stage one.

The mid race pit stop gives racers a chance to relax, refuel, and in Martin Maes’ case grab a quick massage while your tyres are custom tuned for the next stages.
