Runaway Bike Hot Tub

photo-main

The Runaway Bike Hot Tub, is a brand new paraffin-based heated bicycle chain lubricant treatment. Created by Bob and Doug Montclair, they claim that ‘no other product lubricates and repels dirt better.’ It’s much cleaner than traditional oil and grease products. The Hot Tub’s durability and dirt resistance also makes this product more of a long-lasting solution, unlike many other products out there.

Hot Tub is also intended for those comfortable with a bit of bike maintenance since it will require removal of the chain from your bike. However, Runaway believe there is no better way to start maintenance on your bike that with a full professional-grade lube.

The project cut off date is April 21st 2014 and Runaway Bike have to raise $2,000 by that time.

Double O

Double O are wanting to raise $75,000 before April 30th 2014. Sounds a lot for a bike light, right? Well let me explain. Double O bike light is simple, safe and secure. It attaches magnetically, charges via USB, and overall, looks quite stylish. Other bike lights use LED’s packed too closely together, which can be blinding for other road users. Double O on the other hand uses less bright LED’S but more of them, allowing you to see and be seen.

The light actually snaps together, allowing you to thread them onto your bike lock whenever you park up and maybe go for a coffee or some lunch. It does sounds like a lot of money needed to make this project become a success but the Double O is quite a unique piece of equipment. It looks stylish, it’s light and easy to attach to your bike, as well as being a little bit different to other bike lights. We here at Singletrack would love to know your opinion.

MyTask

ea84c5b59044ec2838e7e8201bd06ca5_largeMyTask is an iPhone case with, wait for it, a built in interchangeable tray with bike tools, mirror, pen, bottle opener and more. Sounds cool, right? It seems like nowadays almost everyone has an iPhone, and for cycling fans out there this product looks like it could be one you’ll love. MyTask say this “is not just a case for your iPhone5/5s, but a revolution in phone protection and utility.”

It has a built-in sliding tray that seamlessly integrates with your phone to help you carry and store those items that you need everyday. Again, this is a product that we think looks really good, but we want to know what you guys think.

The myTask project needs to raise $25,000 before the cut off date of April 22nd 2014.

KoldRush

Fed up of overheating and under-performing when cycling? Well, now there’s no need to worry. KoldRush is designed to keep you cool and comfortable with it’s cooling system which improves evaporative cooling. The product works by simply pressing a button on the handlebars which then activates a pump, sending water from the reservoir at the back of the bike, through a tube and into the riders helmet.

It seems like a very complicated piece of equipment and something that is certainly ‘different.’ What we’d love to know is, would you use it? Does it appeal to you as a rider and if so, why?

KoldRush has until May 2nd 2014 to raise around $50,000 before the project is cut from Kickstarter.

Fietsklik

Again, this is another project from Kickstarter that we’re sure you’ll love. Ever wanted to carry more on your bike? Such as a case of beer, shopping, laptop? Well if so, then this project could be the one for you. Fietsklik have created an adaptor and a crate that fits to the baggage carrier on the back of a bicycle. Fietsklik have a range of products:

1 – The Klik, the adapter which all of our products click and lock to
2 – The Crate
3 – The Urban Explorer messenger bag
4 – The Big Shopper pannier bag
5 – The Urban Office laptop bag
6 – The Child Seat – awaiting your support for safety certification testing

Fietsklik have already reached their goal of $40,000 but we felt this project needed sharing with you guys. It looks modern, it’s practical and it’s something a little bit different. It will be available in green and magenta providing they can push on and reach $60,000. The cut off date for Fietsklik is May 2nd 2014.

Similar to past weeks we will now show you a Kickstarter project that made it and one that failed to reach their target. Here are this weeks choices:

The Success

Aluboo Bikes – A bike made from aluminium and bamboo. Sounds crazy, right? Well, someone obviously liked this project after it surpassed it’s target of $50,000 and finished on $102,065. This is what Kickstarter projects are all about, inventions like this. Go on, have a look.

The Failure

Grein Optics-Performance Based High End Bamboo Sunglasses – Another bamboo based Kickstarter project, and these guys were claiming to have made sunglasses better Smith, Oakley, and Maui Jim combined. It was only ever gonna end badly. They needed $15,000 and only manage to raise $340. Let us know what you think.

Mostly solutions for problems that I’m unconvinced even exist and in some cases (pun intended) creating problems you didn’t have before. The last thing I want to be getting out of my pack whilst repairing my bike on a muddy and wet trail is my phone.

    Koldrush – $50K!!!!
    Are they for real?

So is the koldrush one basically a tiny shower in your helmet? I’m guessing the ‘pump’ bit isn’t going to empty the bottle very quickly so its not really going to cool your down, all I can see it doing is carrying any sweat into your eyes that bit more easily

I thought Koldrush was quite a good idea… until I watched the video! Take one Camelbak tube, point at head, squirt 😆

Runaway bike hot tub. Er isnt that just how old people (my Dads era) used to lube their motorcycle chains. In fact my Dads still got a tin of the stuff probably from the 60’s.
