After a long and full weekend of organising the Ritchey TrailMasters event, Mike has returned with news of the final round of the popular Chain Reaction Cycles MTB Marathon series to be held on the 15-16th September. It’s going to be held in the heart of the Clwydian range in North Wales, based from the market town of Ruthin.
Web boy Jon managed to attend a day of the Ritchey TrailMasters and was suitably impressed with it – the organisation and thought that goes into these events is truly first class. He’ll have a full write up soon but in the meantime, here’s word from Mike about what’s going to happen…
First in the 13 years history of the MTB-Marathon series – the Ruthin round will be a triple event – with VITUS Road Sportives on Saturday, followed by the Exposure Lights Big Night Out Night Marathon on Saturday night and finished off with the 4 courses of the CRC MTB-Marathons on Sunday. As you can see a real action packed weekend.
Exposure Lights Big Night out Night Marathon
Following the road activities will the Exposure Lights Big Night out Night Marathon. Introduced to the series more than half a decade ago the ELBNO tests the riders over a 40km long off road route which will pretty much ridden entirely in the dark. So strong legs but equally strong bike lights are a must.
Exposure Lights will be on site with their latest light range but also with their charging station, hire lights and probably even a few event special offers.
For further details on the ELBNO please check the Ruthin MTB event page.
And for the last time in 2012 the 4 marathon courses of the CRC MTB-Marathon powered by Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport will bring the season to an end. You can find everything from a beginner and family orientated MINI marathon (29km long) all the way to the full distance marathon (80km) at the Ruthin round – so every rider can find the perfect challenge for their ability. And don’t forget that you can always cut short in case you don’t feel up for it on the day.

Saturday will be (mostly) about riding on tarmac. Two different sportive courses will be available – a 45mile long (1,200m climbing) standard sportive and a 92mile long (2,700m climbing) classic sportive.
You can find further details on the two routes and what else is on offer on the Ruthin Sportive event page.
Entry open – make sure you get in now.
