Red Bull Downforce urban downhill to hit Swansea

by 3

Fancy your chance to race through what Dylan Thomas called the “ugly lovely city”? Red Bull have 32 places open to take on a fast and furious course through the city centre of Swansea at the start of December. Sound tidy? See below for more details…

Hang on - that doesn't look like Swansea...

“On Sunday 4th December 2011 Red Bull Downforce will rip through Swansea city centre giving amateur MTB riders from across the UK the chance to ride the specially created course in front of thousands of spectators.

The course will see riders reaching speeds of up to 40mph taking on narrow flights of steps, high speed turns and hills with 1 in 4 gradients.

32 riders will battle it out over 2 runs to set their fastest time. The course starting at Nicander Parade, and finishing on The Kingsway in Swansea’s City Centre, will fully test the riders to their limits through the highly technical urban course.

Red Bull athlete Gee Atherton will be there to meet riders and fans and even test out the course himself.

To be in with a chance to compete at Red Bull Downforce you are invited to apply for a place at www.redbull.co.uk/downforce. Applications are now open and will close on 28th November.

Spectators are welcome to watch the action for free from 12pm, with the final starting at 3pm and prize giving at 3:30pm. The best viewing spots will be from the start line on Nicander Parade and the finish line on The Kingsway, at the end of Princess Way.
