Gorrick Spring Series

by 2

Yep, that festive spare tyre around your waist is no longer festive, so it’s time to get racing and get rid of your surplus pies. Joolze Dymond has got some news about the New Year’s racing action with the Gorrick Spring Series:

“With the winter equinox now done and dusted in a blanket of snow we can now look forward to longer days and warmer weather! We can also start to look forward to a thorough dose of Gorricks.

Yes, the ever popular Spring Series, aided and abetted by generous title sponsor Saddle Skedaddle, eager to spread a bit of warmth and holiday happiness with their fab weekend breaks giveaway and with the support of all your local bike shops who will be sponsoring all the competitive categories with a plethora of prize vouchers is now just weeks away, so it’s the perfect time to make a note in your diary to come and have some XC fun time with us!

Here’s a taster of what’s to come:

R1 – 16th January – Crowthorne Woods

The opening round takes us to the much loved Crowthorne Woods, birthplace of the Gorricks, with a seemingly never ending array of sweet singletrack action, perfect for getting your New years resolutions into top gear. It may be an old favorite but get ready for a few new twists and turns as the Gorrick folk let rip with New Year fun.

R2 – 6th February – Heath Warren

Round 2 marks a return to trails we’ve not used for over 3 years. Forestry work has mixed things up a treat enabling us to include an enjoyable mix of flowing singletrack through woodland and across open land, with some cheeky climbs thrown in for good measure. Be prepared to paint the town red as you venture through the infamous paintball area with its obstacles and climbs adding to the adventure.

R3 – 6th March – Windmill Hill

An area more familiar to our endurance buddies, who found much to grin about as they tucked into the delights that this magical part of Porridge Pot Hill provides. Now it’s the turn of the cross-country crew to explore the fantastic array of climbs and descents and they whoop through ‘Watership Down’, ‘Canal Turn’ and the unforgettable ‘Fenceline’!

R4 – 20th March – Porridge Pot Hill

A sweet but stiff going course with plenty to keep you entertained. Set on top of the hill with tracks disappearing off in all directions, you won’t know whether you’re coming or going, but the smiles will tell you everything you need to know about this excellent feature packed course!

R5 -10th April – Firth Hill

This venue proved a real hit with our riders for we’re back for more. Although within shouting distance of Porridge Pot Hill, this venue misses out on the killer climbs but don’t be fooled into a false sense of security, easy it won’t be! Again you’ll find a mix of twists and turns in the techy singletrack with wide open trails that Gorricks are so well known for, along with the usual grin inducing fun bits, which will be there in abundance!
