WHY?
To promote the new Ernest Press guidebook to the South Pennines, a brilliant new guidebook to the area, boasting 26 excellent routes (expanding to 70+ rides with modular options). The routes are supported by wonderful photography and clear OS mapping. Why not make a weekend of it and ride Saturday as well? There is plenty to do and see, maybe check out Great Rock (otherwise known as Beardy Weirdy Ed Oxley) for some Saturday skills sessions.
About the Author:
Stephen Hall started riding a bike at school, taking long day and overnight road trips to the Peak District. Moving to the South Pennines in the early 1990’s to start a teaching career; he was introduced to mountain biking by his partner (now wife) Ruth. Since then, several bikes have been worn out in the local hills. Stephen also rides extensively throughout England, Wales and Scotland as well as occasional trips overseas. He is equally at home on a downhill course, riding north shore or a good day out cross-country riding. All are about the outdoors, biking and having fun with friends & family. During the last two decades, new bridleways have (and still are) been re-designated, opening up new riding options. Writing a new guidebook seemed the obvious answer and a good excuse to get out and do more riding. With an extensive and expanding catalogue of photography in the South Pennines, all that where needed was words. Stephen’s writing matches his photographic skill in quality and precision and it wasn’t long before the 26 routes were ready and submitted to The Ernest Press as an incredibly impressive manuscript. Stephen lives in the heart of the guidebook area, near Hebden Bridge, with his wife Ruth, and children Edward and William.

I’ll see you in the Hole afterwards. I’m training volunteer rangers up at Lee Quarry during the day.
BTW my beard is bigger than Billy’s and my moobs are smaller :-)
I ventured out on the South Downs today. Looking forward to some northern stone and folks.
