Cannondale Rush Hi Mod Carbon Frame

Sram XX Groupset
From: Sram
Fast and light has been my mantra for bivvy trips and gear; this year I’ve introduced that concept to the bike that’s going to get me out there. The Cannondale Rush Hi Mod Carbon frame appealed to my liking for single pivot full suspension bikes and the shortish (110mm) travel rear end is just what I’ve been hankering after for a while now.
Complementing the frame is a rather lovely full Sram XX groupset which, with it’s generous helpings of magnesium, titanium and carbon, has built up to a shade over 24 pounds without having to weigh grips or other desperate measures. Cranks are BB30 which offer a nice and narrow 156 q factor and 42/28 chainrings.
I’ve opted for a 36/11 cassette to try and give a decent winch gear for the end of long days in the saddle, check out the amount of space for crud to shed instead of clogging it up.
Mavic Crossmax SLR’s combined with fast rolling Maxxis Crossmark 2.25 rear and Ardent 2.25 front, they’re tubed for the moment but I’m going to dip my toes into the world of tubeless to see what I’m missing out on.
A Truvativ (naturally) finishing kit of carbon seatpost, stem and Noir team risers. Matchmaker XX combine the brake levers with shifters and also the hydraulic lock out for the 120mm Reba XX forks.
Undoubtably the nicest bike I’ve ever had the pleasure to ride, now back to training to do it justice 🙂
Dave

nice bike mister! cant believe a mag journo and tester hasnt tried tubeless yet though!
those big range cassettes are perfect for 1×10, shame they are so pricey!

I have ridden tubeless, just not on my own bikes 🙂
Did you say training??????????????????????
So, if one of us mere ‘non bike journos’ was to buy all of this kit from our LBS, what would it cost?
(I’m guessing lots…)
nearly as nice as my new Rush ;o)
dog
Superlight – your right it would be expensive.
However, my Rush is pretty similar, but with alu frame, reba Sls, crostrail wheels rather than crossmax and lower end sram stuff that still works perfectly.
It’s not quite as light but I bet it rides pretty much the same and it wasn’t expensive (relatively) at all 🙂
The exclusivity of the spec does kind of undermine it’s point as a long term tester though…. isn’t the SRAM XX stuff aimed at sponsored racers who don’t care about longevity?
Nice grips mister.
Olie – yes. Got a coulple of long distance plans
ChrisS – XX is available on quite a few bikes this year it’s not just aimed at sponsored racers, it’s also a good opportunity to review the 2×10 concept which will be available further down the food chain in the future.
Brant – paid for and everything ;o)
LOL. “Review the 2×10 concept”? It’s just two chainrings and 10 cogs, it’s not really that novel though is it? At a guess it will behave just like a 2×9 or the 2×10 on a road bike…..
Mine is a stock 2009 Rush Carbon 3 – with Stans 355/Hope Pro 3 wheelset, shorter Thomson stem, Easton carbon bars, matching snot green ODI grips, Hope Mono Mini Pro brakes, and run with tubeless tyres…. not as bling as this one, but weighs in just half a pund more. It’s ace!
That’s wicked dude nice bike
Sorry full sus is not for me
But me does like ALOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Dave!
Really nice bike, you’ve built yourself.
Is the fork a part of testing the XX gruppo?
Or why didn’t you choose a Lefty?
Thumbs up for the bike!
/Simon
Shocking!!!
Where is the carbon lefty???
Interesting colour combo. Is that a UK standard?
Strange to choose a frame and design in it’s last year of production for a long term test. By the time we get a verdict they’ll probably all of gone.
@avdave2 – Maybe Dave just fancied one?
dammm that thing looks fast 🙂
is there anywhere on here that does TEST RIDES and not just part lists ?
