Roc d’Azur – Report 1

by 8

Guy Bowden from Flow MTB reports…

First morning at the Roc – this place is huge! Several enduro events going on this weekend, along with some marathon racing, a UCI BMX supercross round, big dirt jumps, slopestyle, etc etc. Not sure how I’m going to fit it all in.

Oh and the sun’s not really out yet, but it’s flippin’ ‘ot ‘ere.

I have written countless magazine and website features and route guides for the UK mountain bike press, most notably for the esteemed and highly regarded Singletrackworld. Although I am a Lancastrian, I freely admit that West Yorkshire is my favourite place to ride. Rarely a week goes by without me riding and exploring the South Pennines.

They’re not old school sidewalls on that Scott, they’re Dugast tubs! Probably about £300s worth of them too!

The mudgaurd on that dinky shock is utterly pointess…

The Dugasts are even more expensive if it’s the World Champs bike – they’re team-issue tubulars and there was $400 of silk alone in each tub!

blimey! I was just thinking cotton…

I can confirm that those ‘old school’ tyres are on the world champs bike…. expensive.

“The mudgaurd on that dinky shock is utterly pointess…”

true true. Many might say that the dinky shock is also utterly pointless.. what’s wrong with a 2.5 minion on the back 🙂

speaking of which, my Ragley with it’s dual ply 2.5 tyres is looking like slightly too much bike down here.. most riders around are sporting what can only be described as slightly fat, slightly knobly road tyres… and way too much lycra… and not enough stands showing them that they should really do the decent thing and wear baggies…

Well said that man. Same goes for 650b.
