my employer has given me the option of the following:

citroen berlingo multispace 1.6 hdi

new style ford fiesta 1.4

skoda fabia estate tdi or the berlingo type thing they do

vw polo 1.4

mainly for short runs, im liking the load space in the mpv types. fabia looks good.

If you’re not taking the hit on residuals or mechanicals and are looking for a bike carrier then the Berlingo would be a decent shout. I have 2 Fabias and rate them highly however I don’t think the estate is particularly cavernous nor is the Roomster as flexable as the Berlingo.

fiesta 1.4 – Housewife

vw polo 1.4 – Office Girl

citroen berlingo – Self actualised

skoda fabia estate – Older self actualised

Berlingo (owned 2 of old shape)

We had a Berlingo multispace for 5 years, in terms of residuals it was much better than our current Focus which has lost more than the entire cost of the Berlingo in 3 years (if we’d paid full retail, fortunately for us we got 40% discount on it). As long as you can drive smoothly you can maintain a surprisingly high average speed in a Berlingo.
Berlingo’s are great, my other.5 is wanting one of the new version.

yes berlingo is top of the list at the mo. this car will cost me nothing to run but i can use it for weekends etc so bikability is a good thing. ive not seen the new one yet, got a test drive on tues.

I want one. 🙂

New ford fiesta.

I’d go with the Berlingo every time.

i’d go for the berlingo.

I like the Berlingo, but think that if you get the Skoda with the 1.9 tdi, you will be running one of the best motors around.

Look wise, the new 2 door Ford Fiesta is a real stunner, looks great in the flesh.

Fiesta for looks and driving.
Roomster,for almost being as practical as the Berlingo.
Polo for old women that haven’t yet wised-up to the Yaris,or Jazz
And the Berlingo for being all that you’ll need.

I would’t choose either the Fiesta or the Polo if you need to carry anything large or bulky on a regular basis.

Choosing between the Skoda & the Citroen would then come down to the test drives.

When I was last looking I decided it had to be an estate; looked at the Audi A4 Avant, Jaguar X-Type estate and BMW 3 series Touring.

In the end I felt like goldilocks. The Audi was too firm, the Jag too soft and the Beemer just right
