   not got a set of kitchen scales (or bathroom scales). i need to put 75grs of sugar into my flapjack mix.

   what does 75grs of sugar look like? how many table spoons worth is it?

   If you've got a bag of sugar with a weight printed on it you can estimate. 1kg bags are pretty common, so you'd just work out a tenth and then throw in about that much.
   It's what I do when I cant find the scales.

   sugar is kept in a large jar.

   i honestly don't believe it's 30 tbl spoons of sugar....

    Don't bother with Sugar.

    Jar of honey, 250g block of butter, 500g Oats.

    Mix.

    30mins gas mark 6.

    Done. 16 energy bars ready to go!

    Weigh yourself and then pour 75 grams of sugar in to your hand whilst still on the scales. And make sure you do it in the kitchen so you don't spill any on the way back

    It's got a density of about 1.5g/cm3 according to wikipedia, I'm not going to steel some from the canteen to varify this in the lab for you.

    Therefore you need about 50ml? A tablespoon is 15ml IIRC so you need 3 and a bit or a teaspoon is 5ml so you need 10?

    Of course if wikipedia is quoted the actual density and not the bulk density then my maths is wrong. In that case put in 5 or 6, what's the worst that could happen.

    if that density is right, just use a small jug and measure in mL.

    also the cooking term "spoon" refers to specific measuring spoons which are standardisd.

    why not just get some electronic scales and weigh it?

    As I said early

    1 tablespoon = 1 oz
    therefore 3 will be needed for ~75g

    cheers guys...

    75gr is approx. half a cup of sugar according to GF's mum.

    all the flapjack is now gone and stored in my bowels. i feel a bit ill.

    like the honey idea. might try that next time.
