    How big is the wood?

Big logs needs a big axe £30
Small logs need a small axe £12

I have a longhandle 3lb for splitting the first time and then a small hand axe to make then smaller to fit in the stove.

depends on when you need it.
wouldn’t bother with internet now with the post as it is before Christmas.
so , possibly, whatever axe your local hardware shop has in stock. mine only had one.

Screwfix have a few but they’re all sold blunt so you’ll need a grinder/sharpener or know someone who has one (like Brian over the road).

Use a cheap screwfix it one for the large stuff, or a wood grenade and sledge for the knotty stubbern stuff.

Kindling and light stuff, I have a very nice Gransfors Bruks widlife hatchet, which is razor sharp and light enough that you can use it all day and not screw your arm up.

Not quite. A razor-sharp kindling hatchet will imbed itself in the wood where as a slightly dulled edge splits. Generally ‘writing’. 🙂

Get a maul with a wooden handle as opposed to the plastic shite…

May I point you in the direction of this very informative thread over on Arbtalk. You’ll need to wait a little for it to arrive but very good and well priced when bought abroad.
It seems this axe is better kept sharp while normally splitting axes want to be dull.
