Anyone been?

How hard are the trails. We are still learning the basics so looking more for mincecore than gnarcore.

Thanks for any advice.

I was out in Vallnord week before last with single track safari. Very well organized other than the transfer company changing the pick up point (transfer info should be updated now (Barcelona terminal 2)
Not as many trails as moraine/les arcs but enough to keep you entertained and not getting too lost
Most of the big features have chicken runs, I was ok on 140mm travel bike.
Top lift only open Friday Saturday and Sunday (just not enough people there to justify opening it other days. Cubil from the top is great fun.
Recommend having a lesson even if its just get the instructor to show you unmarked trails
Save enough energy for the last run down 66 at night its long and tiring or roll down the road from second lift stopping at campsite for a beer (search on strava for beer run)
Signage on on maxienduro a bit wayward but you get to the bottom in the end.
Weather was fantastic sunny 20-25 every day two evening showers just to dampen down the dust
Hotel really nice, staff very helpful 40m from lift station

Cheers Daz, that's a really helpful answer.
What is the difficulty like? Can you compare route 66 to any UK trails to give us an idea?

I'd say if you can manage reds in UK you can manage Valnord. Route 66 is steep but not overly technical. It's a great run down. Hit the rocky bit with confidence and enjoy! There's lots of other trails too none are too tight and twisty. I was on Zesty 140mm. Also plus one for singletrack safari been on few with Martin. Some good mountain bike tyres will of course help something like HR2 2.3 ideal.

Yup Vallnord is fine, not a huge amount of runs but enough to keep you grinning, route 66 is a great run back to la mansanna, the upper lift runs are a good addition, so if you can get there on a weekend its worth it, Tracks are pretty smooth and theres no major obstacles,,,,i think the main diff (like any alpine style place) is the length of the runs down,,,, enjoy

We were ar Vallnord in 2013. One of the group was a big mountain virgin and because of an event up at Vallnord our only option was Route 66, on day 1

Baptism of fire for the newbie...he lived.

Upper stretches of Vallnord were fine, valleys in Andorra are steeper at the bottom than the top.

Hotel we stated at in .ordino was great ( with Singletrack safari)

Get Martin to show you " locals only" early on in the week, you will want to do it again. When we rode it for the second time that week, Cedric overtook us on the pedal up. Quality

Please do us a favour though, apologise to Martins van for the mess we made in it last year.
