  • Ultimate showdown – RAGLEY Vs ON-ONE – Who wins – You decide

As you may know I have a Ragley MmmBop and am loving it, just a touch curious tho.

Who rides a Ragley, and who rides an On-one, who has ridden both.

What is Singletracks definitive answer – Ragley or On-one? And why?

considering that STW is populated by fickle marketing obsessed audi driving whores, the one that is currently in fashion will win regardless of how it rides. 😉

    owned the following
    2 x on one 29rs
    1 x inbred
    1 x 456
    1 x summer season
    1 x blue pig
    1 x mmm bop

the ‘that green’ 456 was the best, and the one i would want back.

Had a Scandal, now have an Mmmbop. Horses for courses obviously, the Scandal was the better XC bike, the Mmmbop is the better for mucking about on, but I know which I prefer.

Though having said that my Mmmbop is going back under warranty as the left hand dropout plate thing is bent, but still ace.

On-One for me. Ragley Piglet comes close though but I haven’t ridden it yet.

    Dialled Bikes Alpine.

Sort of like an Evil Sovereign, but not as good…

Having said that, I’d really like a go on a 456 or similar to see how it compares to some of the offensively expensive alternatives.

    That’s my extremely constructive input.

    What On One though?

I’m really loving the mmmbop at the moment, but the thought of a Ti DB Alpine……

just casting about for a bit of objectivity: but as Ragley are newer, surely 90% of owners who have owned both will have had an on one & now have a Ragley. (law of averages)
& they wouldn’t very well say they’d swapped out a good ride for a wrong’un would they?

Have a Blue Pig and an 853 On One. Had a 456.

Can I vote for On Ones before Brant left in a STW forum fashion? lol 😆

    Ragley 4
    Dialled Bikes 2
    On One 1

yes but one of those was comparing a xc race frame to a all mountain hardtail so that doesn’t count.

I believe Ragley are flavour of the month 😉 but isn’t this really just checking the progress of one bike designer.

I’m going for ragley, simply because their bikes have cooler names. Must factor this kind of thing in when buying a bike.

I’d rather own a ‘blue pig’ than a ‘456’ anyday.

I have a 456 and love it, and prefer the look of the 456 over the mmmbop. Also excited about waiting for the new On-One Ti 29″ geared hopefully due around April 2011.

    So do I get 2 votes for having a 456 and waiting/wanting a on-one ti 29er…

But I have never ridden a Ragley but I can imagine them riding about the same as the 456.

Ragley, costs more and you have to put the stickers on yourself. What’s that all about? Apart from that it’s newer and more fashionable so it must be better.

mmmbops are ace. Fact. (still enjoy my rigid DN6 inbred though)

    ahwiles

my pig is ace, it’s very good on difficult steep stuff.

my inbred is ace, it’s very good on faster easier flatter stuff.

    bikes are ace.

(the 456 is more or less basically an extra chunky inbred, if you want to ride flatter easier stuff quickly, get an inbred – you don’t need the extra chunk of the 456. if you want to ride difficult steep stuff, get a pig – it’s just a bit better than the 456 if you want something chunky, imho)

    have owned-

    inbred (sold)
    steel 456 (kept)
    ti 456 (kept)
    scandal (sold)
    scandal 29er (kept)
    blue pig (sold)

my vote goes to on one. 456 beats the pig by a country mile.

I have owned a 456, I currently own an apline and mmmbop, but like them all in different ways. Picking a favourite I would have to go with the alpine as it has taken me to the most places and given me the most memories, however… the mmmbop is still very new.

Sod it, the winner is a ti alpine in 18″

Its threads like this that make me sad that I own an On One but relieved I don’t have a Ragley.

The answer obviously is whichever one is considered niche at the moment, and you can photograph with about half a metre of seat tube sticking out the top of it.

Seeing as I have only ridden one of them, and seeing as I would break down into pathetic mewing sobs if anyone suggested that my bike was anything less than the greatest, coolest ride ever, I feel I am perfectly qualified to answer this question.

    😉
