Next weekend I'm heading into the hills, but where to go?
2 of us, both done lots of munro's but none in the winter for several years. We have crampons/axe and know how to use them, etc.
Looking for 2 days of nice walking/scrambling, but nothing that will require ropes (although we'll probably take one).
Heading up from Edinburgh/Glasgow so options are open, but not wanting to go REALLY far north.
4/5 Munros with the devils ridge to provide a wee of excitement.
Nice ridge walk.
CMD Arete on Ben Nevis?
Alternatively, Ben Lawers and the Tarmachan could be fun at the moment.
I know you said you have the gear and know how to use it, but this is a report from a well monitored area with high traffic.

EAST WALL,WEST WALL, CISTE GULLY, CORONATION WALL AND HEAD WALL OF THE CAS, STRICTLY OUT OF BOUNDS, DUE TO HIGH AVALANCHE RISK!! Constant heavy drifting on lower slopes, lovely pisted powder, Fiacaill ridge and sheiling area catching lots of new snow. All runs have packed pisted powdery snow
I realise that the Cairngorm might not be your intended destination, but conditions may be more than sketchy on less monitored peaks.

well look up the routes later.
We obviously check the MWIS and avalance risks. That's one reason why we haven't done much for a few years. Been avalanche risked off the past couple of times we've tried.
Bikes will be taken incase we can't get up high.
