Why anyone would decide to do this is beyond me, but what a superb effort!

I found it hard enough on a rented Lynskey titanium road bike with decent gearing...respect!

I reckon with the gearing on a Boris Bike I could climb the north face of the Eiger.

Careful! I bet its careless bragging like that, that ended up with him on Ventoux on a Boris Bike!

I reckon there's a spring classic in this. City rental bikes only, Belgian roads, some cobbles, finish around the Kapelmuur. There's loads of places in this part of the world with city rental schemes, could be quite the event.

so now the first has been done, who's running the book on the next mountain this will be done on?

Alp D'Huez?
Galibier?
Everest?

next year there will be an extreme Boris bike calendar - its just like extreme ironing!

I just watched this, great effort. What a shame he didn't get to freewheel down after all his hard work, I was watching it waiting for the elation of that part, am disappoint.

I'm not sure I'd want to ride such a steep road on a bike with crappy brakes that weighs a ton.

This story made me smile on my way into work this morn... that's no mean feat in itself.

Hope you've made a small donation if it had the same effect on you.

Absolute quality - the video is definitely worth a watch, incredible effort. 10% average gradient for three hours on that thing... respect.

Going down the other side of Ventoux did funny things to the brakes on the Punto hire car I drove up in. It wasn't quite the same after that. I wouldn't fancy it on a Boris Bike...
