  • RF Next SL Carbon crank arm – pedal insert wobbly: terminal?
  • IHN

So, it seems that the wobbly pedal on the non-drive side isn’t in fact the pedal bearings, like I thought it was, it’s the threaded insert into the crank arm that’s come loose. Not buy much but, well, anything’s too much isn’t it.

I assume the cranks (and at the very least that crank arm) are a right off, unless anyone can cheer me up with tales of how it can be fixed?

possibly not send it to a carbon repair specialist…

Should be a warranty replacement (same happened to me)

    Meanwhile, last night……..

Same thing happened to my Dad’s FSA K-Force carbon cranks. Anyone had any success getting them repaired?

What’s the Bluetooth smart thing on your LH crank?

    what happened?!

Just trying to keep pedalling through a muddy section and it suddenly went all wrong. Lots of chainsuck at first, got into the granny ring for a while which was OK. The grinding noise made me stop though.

Bang an email off to windwave…I got a brand new set of cranks, bb and rings after mine came loose after 3 years use…fantastic customer service

Mate had the same with a set of lightly used RF ones…wasn’t as happy an ending sorry!

Its Silverfish I’ll deal with. Mine will end up with them via the shop I purchased from.

5 year guarantee so I’m told.

Fingers well and truly crossed 😮

I broke two pairs, both were replaced under warranty by Silverfish. No fuss, great service.

Blimey, I was thinking of these cranks, but that sounds like a mighty high failure rate (even accepting this is an internet discussion about broken cranks etc etc etc).
Good luck getting them sorted OP and others.

I’ve had the insert come loose in three Truvativ Noir cranks.
    All replaced under warranty.

    Cheers all.

They were second hand from the classifieds and I’ve basically written them off, but the fine chaps at the LBS (Independent Bikeworks in Cirencester) are going to have a word with Silverfish and see if anything can be done.
