As above…heading down for a long weekend, a couple of 4-6 hour walks between Windermere and the M6 would be ideal, if there’s an online map all the better so I don’t have to buy one!

Ideas of other stuff to do would also be welcome, thankyouplease.

everyone should have all 4 of the OS Lake District maps in their collection.

If you wanted to fit an easy one in then the walk around Haweswater is nice – 10 miles. Very handy for the M6 – there’s a minor road taking you right there from Tebay.

Kentmere Horseshoe – route discription randomly culled from the web

Turn off the Kendal – Windermere Road at Stavely, so you also get the chance for fine cake and food at Wilf’s or bike shopping at Wheelbase. Just incase you need to re-balance your inner rambler.

Quieter and on the other side of M6 – try the Howgill Fells from Sedbergh.

Rural myth perpetuation of the day – the heart shaped wood you can see from the M6 South of Tebay. Just in case you need a story to tell
