Not sure if this has been done already, but I was in Waitrose today and they have a BOGOF offer on pre-cooked sachet meals in the "Look what we found" range.
As far as I could tell, they have four types, all meaty and all weigh in at 300g, without about 300KCal each. I picked up a chili con carne and a beef bolognase with spagetti (both were £1.99) but there was a Lancashire lamb hotpot and a beef casserole (I think) on the same display for £2.66. From what the packaging says, they are cooked in the pouch and can be either micowaved or boiled up to temperature, but I think boil in the bagging might work too. It also says that you don't need to keep them in the fridge, just cool and dry, and they both have best before dates of May next year.
I'll get them fired up next week and see what they taste like.
Edit... Just checked the web and they have six types on offer. The link is too long to add here, but if you search on the "Special Offer" section and sort by price low-high, you'll see them.
