I dumped a girl to this once…. I could tell it helped by the way she slapped me.

    Forgot my personal favourite…

Danko Jones – 'Baby Hates Me'

Anyone who like ACDC, Thin Lizzy or big dumb riff heavy, hook laden straight-up rock fun NEEDS to hear this:

Rinsed Radiohead – Kid A the first time I got dumped (by which I mean, the first time I got dumped and I cared…) now can't listen to it.

This time round its been Sign No More by Mumford and Sons, the first tune has some pretty uplifting 'you're a free man' type lyrics 8)

Also, Sigh no more = surprisingly good riding music.

I once departed ways with a young lady by playing Wonderstuff's "its your money I'm after baby" after an enormous argument.

Not sure, but that one might have come about after the lead singer got dumped by Laura Marling. For me, The Jam, 'The Bitterest Pill'

moses – that version is good, but I think George Jones did it first

"your lipstick on a half-filled cup of coffee
that you poured and didn't drink
but at least you thought you wanted it
that's so much more than I can say for me"

See also – pretty much every song ever recorded by George Jones

dont dream it's over – crowded house

this kicked in mid way through a break up, sitting in a quiet in a pub.

it turned a weepy conversation into ironic sniggering in seconds.
