£10 for an hour on the track, including bike hire. Few quid more if you need to hire shoes. bike hire is usually £9, so this is a bit of a deal!

18bikes - can you shoot me some more info about the velodrome taster sessions in general? I have a suitable (I think..) track bike, and would love to try out indoor riding 
would love to join in but can't get there in time from up North

My track bike is currently hanging in the cellar with a baby enforced break from the merry-go-round of the boards.

Plenty of stuff on the manchester velodrome website. http://www.nationalcyclingcentre.com/ride_the_track.html
You're better off hiring one if their bikes for a taster. If you turn up with yours and you're not sure if it's suitable or not they'll give it a fairly thorough going over before they let it on the track, best use theirs.
