Lawyers have spoken, apparently, so we may not find out why?

Looks like no On-one lurcher then?

Lawyers ?
Darn. I was holding out for a lurcher as a lightweight 29er carbon project, guess I'll look elsewhere then (assuming this is correct).

A quibble over the name only?
Posted 6 months ago # -
if it was naming issue, then thats not likely to stop things. It was only a proto.

Think they have said 18" ss frames on way ; rest to follow in new year - think that's right? Sounds like bit of a c*** up all round.
Posted 6 months ago # -
I was quite excited about finding out what's caused the delays, but as you point out, a one liner about lawyers stating they shouldn't say anything isn't particularly helpful.
It's been 12 months now since the Lurcher was first due to arrive, and there are rumours of an 18" SS coming very soon, but we've heard that a few times already.

Where are the On One team when you need clarification !
Posted 6 months ago # -
give it a couple of weeks and there will be some coming out of a back door of a Taiwanese factory that are magically identical but will called somethin like "supernova" of "flshycarbonracerboy" and will be on ebay for a few hundred quid.
Posted 6 months ago # -
there already on ebay..

Where are the On One team when you need clarification !
option a: in deep consultations with £1000 a day lawyers
option b: in the pub
option c: laid up recovering from a shoulder operation

I walked into On-One a few months ago and asked about the Lurcher. They had a pre production frame in the office and offered it to me. I asked for it with 11 spd Alfine and they built it in a few weeks. Easy for me to say, but its so worth waiting for!

Another dull On One. Ah well, there'll be another soon enough...
Posted 6 months ago # -
That's the first 29er with the notable exception of the niner air that I think looks right.
Change the name if you have to but don't change the bike.....Posted 6 months ago # -
What about the guy they booted out to bring back Richards?
I believe he's now contracting for a rail company.

Well thats what I wrote, but bearing in mind I wrote the newsletter this week full of painkillers and with one arm, I wouldn't take it totally as the complete truth.
I'm also not minded to discuss "previous designers"
In any case, the company line on the lurcher, and delays is out there, if you know where to look.

There are some singlespeed (cable stopper less) 18in ones on a boat. There are geared ones of all sizes in production. I don't have a complete date for those yet but will ask Colin our purchasing manager who i am off to taiwan with tonight.

Info on date for geared Lurcher would be appreciated Brant.

I really only want to release firmer info when they are "on the water in a can" as Colin says.
But I will see what some jet lag and economy class hospitality will make him say.

from that mtbr link
We truly cocked up
our carbon 29er
lurcher frame
programme - the
delays on the 29er
lurcher is a simple and
painful lesson that we
wont make again . The
true story is
embarrassingly simple
and almost laughable -
the lurcher was held up
due to a mis-
communication with
the factory on
production of
whippetts / carbon
456s - we had placed a
schedule order for 250
frames per month - the
factory interpreted this
as an order for 3000
frames and produced
them ! Then as they
were then sat on 3000
frames they did not
wish to make any
lurchers . As I said
laughable and a lack of
clarity in our purchase
orders / factory
relationship that we
have learned a lesson
from .oops!

"I'm also not minded to discuss "previous designers""
Why the inverted commas? Sounds a bit hissy-fit to me.

Hi Brant, thats an easy mistake to make and its refreshing to see such honesty from a major supplier on the forum. I'm guessing there are a lot of us hanging on for a Lurcher but quite how long we are prepared to wait is another question.
I guess you have two options, get someone else to make the Lurchers which I assume is not a 5 min job or find a way to get the guys sitting on all the Whippets/456s to compromise.
If you could update us when you know more that would be appreciated.

watches out of the sale of the Centaury on 456c's then...

Gotta be some cheap over supply carbon 456s out there somewhere....

Presumably because it's better than if he'd referred to the person as "the guy they booted out to bring back Richards?" rather than the insult that you seem to be perceiving it as...

Sounds a bit like my student days when I worked in a bike shop
,every rep who walked through the door had a different version of the same story.
