No complaining about the postie, if they can't make it, they can't make it, but I have some tickets for the indoor trials at Sheffield on their way. Sent new years eve so should be due any day, if they can't make it, what are my chances of being able to pick up from the sorting office (assuming they got that far)?
Would be chaos if everybody tried to pick up their post I guess, but most will not bother.
Any "policy" in place or is it a packet of biscuits and a smile territory?

Right, leave it a few days (not on until Saturday so no drama yet) and give them a buzz. Been out for a little walk and saw some footprints, but if the footprints going door to door were the postman, he must be a bit small, or the snow goblins are helping him...

I've just walked a couple of miles to my local sorting office to collect a recorded delivery which I wasn't home to recieve yesterday. The place is shut. It's on an industrial estate where, as far as I could tell, every other business was open. So it appears that no one from the post office could be bothered to man the collection desk and they've all gone to play in the snow. I can understand deliveries being cancelled (we've got about 8" of snow) but could not one of the lazy, workshy *expletive deleted* make it into the nice warm office to hand out the parcels.

I've been a postie for 12 years and I've never once seen delivery cancelled due to bad weather, and this qualifies at about 3 out of 10 compared to some of the annoying meteorological effects I've been out in.
The only exception could be if you have a van delivery and you live at the top of some snowed-in ten percent farm track.
Give the office a phone, though it may be a bit late today if your mail is already out on the round.
wk, won't bother them unduly, still days to go and we are not that remote at all, just in case really. Probably all arrive in 5 due to a small weather delay

Its a crap excuse for one of the counties biggest employers, but Royal Mail is, these days, run with a skeleton staff. One or two people off sick and the place tends to fall apart.
Normally, the laziest person in the office is the manager, if even they are out delivering, things is bad.
As I say, its a crap excuse....
