Can anyone in the Shawlands area of Glasgow tell me if Behind Bars Bars is still trading?
I've been calling them all day with no reply, trying to follow up an email I sent over the weekend that hasn't been replied to either. Donald in the shop has usually been very prompt at replying in the past and I need to speak to the shop sooner rather than later.

If so, what about you taking on Cotics? 
(that's the only reason I went there - to get a Cotic via my bike to work scheme).
Really closed down? I live across the road and I'm fairly certain he was open on Friday. He's been fairly busy too with workshop jobs. 
Gutted, a useful local bike shop that I always tried to give some of my business. I thought things were looking down for them since a couple of years ago-every time I went in the was one less bike, and the mechanic I believe ended up down at Craig McMartins.
Ironically it has been bike to work scheme that apparently **** Donald over in the end...
People don't seem to realise the hit that c2w takes a big chunk of an ever decreasing margin. Combined with the huge delay between the shop buying a bike, the voucher coming in, the voucher being credited (minus commission), it's difficult for small shops. He's not the first, and won't be the last unfortunately.
and the mechanic I believe ended up down at Craig McMartins.
McMartins according to Donald, with the other boy moving up to Aberdeen for uni.
I used him for all my workshop jobs but I'd rarely buy any parts as he didn't stock much mountain bike stuff. He told me a few months ago he thought there was no money in catering for mountain bikes.
My bad. He moved to mcmartins and it was just as bad, so now he is the dm in the Alpine store at Glasgow Outdoor Experience.
BoardinBob, would you mind having a look if you get a chance? I'm only trying to contact them as I don't have any proof of purchase for my Cotic that I got from them in Sept last year, and I've got a small warranty issue on it...
I can help with a cotic if needed.....
Why would you have proof of purchase for something that you are merely hiring/renting/whatever from your employer?
Well, proof or purchase, receipt, etc - just the words I used. Basically all I need is something to prove I didn't aquire it (is that OK to use?) years ago.

That's a shame - I used that shop quite a few times when I lived in Shawlands. Friendly guys and decent service.
I just got my bike from there before christmas throught C2W, Donald was a nice guy hope he finds something new soon.
I live in shawlands and I thought it had shut as I hadn't seen it open for a few weeks.
I'll be home early tonight so I'll check it out. Because he works on his own, he has to close the shop when he takes a holiday so hopefully it's just that

If it's a minor thing that needs looking at rather than replacing, Chris from Cycleworld has generously offered to help out too, although they're a bit further north. I'm sure we can sort something out.
i heard today from a trade source that he has wound up....if donald is reading this,commiserations and good luck for the future.....

Cheers Cy, but I've already been communicating with Paul over the last few days and he's kindly sorting it out for me :). It was only a minor issue with a CC hub, nothing serious or frame-related etc (just to reassure any Cotic owners!).
Sad to hear that the shop's gone. I only had that one dealing with Donald and he couldn't have been more helpful, despite him knowing I wasn't a local customer and would be unlikely to give him future business (I live/work approx 45miles away).
