Wanting some advice on which bag would be more suitable for my riding, got the dakine nomad at the moment which has been good up until the zips failed, so wanting one that fits about as much as the nomad could or maybe a bit more room.
Would like to be able to fit a jacket in as well as other essentials for longer days riding.
Gotta be the evoc as looks a robust bag which supposedly fits brilliant, even though it is super expensive! 😯
    All advice much appreciated, thanks.

you’ll want the 16L one. you can fit small amounts of stuff in the 10L bags but not really enough for a full days riding

Reasonably in depth conversation here – http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/which-evoc-pack-with-protector

I’ve just got the fr enduro blackline pack (small back) which is 14l. Plenty big enough for me but if you’re taller the medium is 16l and the large is 20l.

I’d recommend it but i’m coming from a knackered 5l tesco jobby so anything would have been better…

edit: and the back protector is a nice thing to have.

Best place to look for comparisons is the Evoc website, I have to say after using mine for its first ride yesterday I’m pressed by the stability and features of the bag.

I went for a trail bag, as they seemed to have more space, er Depth, in them. Be wary of the length of the back protector, at 6ft3 I found the XL one caused too much interference with helmet so I went for a M/L bag instead.

I use the 10l CC and find it a perfect size for a day pack. Unless you’re the type who packs everything and the kitchen sink.

EDIT: Although if you’re going for one with a back protector then 16l is probably the smallest you’d get away with. The 10l (FR lite) is tiny in storage.

I’ve got the 10l fr team lite. Perfect for a days riding, got all the tools you’d need, sarnies, energy gels, snickers, bananas, first aid kit, 2 litre hydration pack, 2 tubes, can fit the waterproofs on the back if needed. Keys, wallet, phone, spare gloves, buff, wooly hat. Sure I’m missing a thing or two, but can’t imagine what more you’d need for a day.

The only thing I felt was missing on the 10l fr lite was the tool compartment found on the 16l enduro – if it’d had that it would be a near perfect bag.

If the 10L CC had bottle holders on the side, I would swap my 16L for one tomorrow.

The linked post earlier was mine. I bought both 20L Trail and 16L Enduro, and after a play at home returned the Enduro. I was after something big enough for whole days out in the hills, for which the Trail is ideal. Amazingly comfortable when riding. I have also ordered a 10L FR Lite, for short evening rides etc, where I’ll have the 3L bladder, pump, tubes, multitool, phone and little else in it.

Cheers guys, gonna go with the trail, thanks for the review iainc, anyone got any advice on size wise? I’m 5ft 9 average build but kinda in between on torso chart with small and medium, thinking maybe I should go with small as don’t want spine board to restrict head movement on steep descents… 😕

I’m go for the M/L first – remember to try it on for size while on the bike.

Am 5’9″ and got medium. Totally restricts head/helmet movement on any kind of descent. To the point that cant actually use it. Tried with back protector removed and no great improvement. Def go for small.

Ahhh shite! That’s what I was afraid of 😕
Cheers for that..trouble is I’ve read one review of someone saying the small is too tight on a 32″ waist! 🙄

5ft 10.5 here, long back. My M/L sits fine and no helmet interference on steep stuff. The waist strap is designed to be tight, I am 34 waist and am about the middle of the adjustments range on the velcro pads, with base layer and warm jersey

Cheers Iainc, I’m a bit smaller in height than you with a smaller torso but I have a 32 going up to a 34″ waist, I think I should definitely get the small pack but just worried the straps won’t be long enough but surely they would I mean a 34″ waist isn’t exactly obese! 😆

    Hi,

I’m also looking at EVOC FE Enduro backpack and I’m deciding on size S vs M/L… I’m 176cm (5′ 9¼”). I’ve tried both in shop (not on bike) and can’t decide…

M/L seems a bit long both in the waist and on the shoulders (however not really blocking my neck), but it’s right according to spec.

Size of pack (volume of storage) is fine in both cases…

    Any recommendation?

I had that on my first ride. Then I realised that I was wearing it far too high, with the hip belt up as a waist belt. I’m a little taller than you but check where it’s sitting on you.

Not following you chief. You can arrange belt over your hips but inevitably rides up to your waist? Only thing to have made a difference is to wear it slightly looser but this kind of defeats the purpose ie designed to be worn hugging body for max protection.
